CREDENTIALING GUIDELINES

To establish certain guidelines and requirements candidates must meet, that will be the basis for determining their eligibility for credentials.

3 TYPES OF COVERING

LAY MINISTER, MINISTERIAL LICENSE, and ORDINATION

LAY MINISTER

SERVING IN LOCAL MINISTRY

This credential will be issued to those people serving in a local church or Para-church ministry. It recognizes a persons calling to serve in various aspects of ministry outside of the five fold Apostolic calling as described in Ephesians 4:11.

 

Qualifications for a Lay License:

 

  • Recommendation given by their pastor and two other references.

  • Have received certain training or have sufficient “ministry experience” demonstrating their preparation to serve in ministry.

  • Lay Ministers license must be renewed annually as long as the person continues their involvement in active ministry in the local church or para-church organization.

MINISTERIAL LICENSE

CALLED INTO THE FIVE-FOLD MINISTRY

This credential will be issued to those people serving in a local church or Para-church ministry who are called into one of the five-fold ministry offices described in Ephesians 4:11. Candidates for Ministerial License shall be interviewed by the Executive Committee or its designated representatives. The interview shall consist of questions concerning the candidate’s personal testimony, doctrine, and philosophy of ministry.

 

The Ministerial License will be issued for a period of one year and must be renewed annually. The Licensed minister shall remain in fellowship with GHMA and annually submit a “Ministerial Accountability Report” to the Leadership Council demonstrating their continued service to the Body of Christ in ministry. Failure to remain in fellowship and submit an Accountability report will result in credentials being not being renewed.

 

The Leadership Council of GHMA, will review and determine the outcome of all applications for Ministerial licenses and renewals. The decision of the Leadership Council of GHMA shall be final.

 

Qualifications for a Ministerial License:

  • Recommendations from their local pastor and two other character references.

  • Have received training and education and or the equivalent of ministry experience demonstrating their readiness for ministry in a local church or Para-church organization.

  • Receive a portion of their income from ministry.

  • Successfully complete the interview process of the Executive Committee.

ORDINATION

LIFE-CALLING INTO THE FIVE-FOLD MINISTRY

The credential of Ordination is the recognition of a life calling to one of the five-fold apostolic offices as listed in Ephesians 4:11.

Ordination is a lifetime credential and need not be renewed once conferred.

 

Candidates for ordination shall successfully pass an “Ordination Examination” to be conducted by the Leadership Council of GHMA, or its designated representatives. The Ordination Examination shall consist of written and oral submissions concerning the candidate’s personal testimony, doctrine, and philosophy of ministry.

 

The ordained minister shall remain in fellowship with GHMA and annually submit a “Ministerial Accountability Report” to the Leadership Council demonstrating their continued service to the Body of Christ in ministry. Failure to remain in fellowship and submit an Accountability report will result in credentials being revoked.

 

The Leadership Council of GHMA will review and determine the outcome of all applications for Ordination. The decision of the Leadership Council shall be final.

 

Qualifications for Ordination:

 

  • Hold a Ministerial License for a period of three consecutive years.

  • Provide three character/ministry references

  • Have received training and education and or the equivalent of ministry experience demonstrating their readiness for ministry in a local church or Para-church organization.

  • Successfully complete the Ordination Examination.
